David was born and bred in Bishop's Stortford. He grew up in a Christian home, and became a Christian when he was 13 at a youth camp.

Over the years he has been involved in Methodist, Baptist and Anglican churches and he and his wife, Ali, were founder members of the Community Church.


In 1987 he moved away to work full time as a Youth Pastor in Biggin Hill, at the same time gaining a Diploma in Theology from Spurgeon's College. In 1992 he became an elder in the City Church Canterbury, a large NFI church in East Kent.

Returning to the Community Church in 1997, he became an elder in 1999, and is mainly involved in teaching and pastoral activities.

David also works full time as a Deputy Head in a secondary school in Chelmsford. He enjoys bird watching and is a keen sportsman, having played hockey to junior international level. He and Ali have three children, Thomas, Emma and Rachel.
